Energy is an essential part of everyday life – from providing heat and light, to powering appliances and technology. While we all count on reliable energy at home, businesses are also dependent on it to manufacture their products and serve their customers.

To better meet the needs of these business customers, Yankee Gas and CL&P have launched a new Business Center at the companies’ Call Center in Windsor, Connecticut. Staffed by a team of highly trained customer service representatives and account executives, the Business Center provides customized, proactive service to meet these customers’ unique energy needs.

“The energy needed to power a business can be a hundred times the amount it takes to power a home, so the needs of our business customers truly are different than the needs of our residential customers,” said Penni Conner, Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer of Northeast Utilities, parent company of Yankee Gas and CL&P. “We’re excited about this new service delivery approach and the opportunity for our team to really make a difference for all of our business customers.”

The Business Center will focus on small- and medium-sized business customers, who comprise the vast majority of Yankee Gas and CL&P commercial accounts. The Business Center is designed to be a valuable resource to help customers manage costs, use energy more efficiently and make it easier to do business with the companies. Customers will receive customized service, including helpful and timely information on power quality and reliability, energy efficiency programs and services, competitive energy supplier offerings, planned and unplanned service interruptions and more. The Business Center will complement and support the Yankee Gas and CL&P Strategic and National Accounts team that serves the companies’ largest business customers.
