Steps to connect to natural gas
At any time during the process, call Yankee Gas at 1.888.2YANKEE (1.888.292.6533) to work with our experienced energy consultants to review your home's energy requirements and answer any questions about natural gas, conversion from another fuel and available natural gas equipment.
Check our service territory map to see if Yankee Gas serves your town. Or complete and submit our online form to confirm that service is available at your location.
If needed, Yankee Gas will install a service connection from the gas main in the street to the meter location on your home.
STEP 1
See our tips for choosing a contractor, then choose a contractor to install your new gas equipment and appliances. You might consult the CT Association of Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors at www.ct-phcc.org. From central heating to fireplaces, from natural gas cooking to dryers, versatile natural gas can make your home more comfortable and your life just a little easier.
STEP 2
Tap into tax credits and rebates.
- Up to $1,500 in federal tax credit for qualified product installation.
- Up to $300 rebate if you install a high efficiency water heater. Call 1.877.WISE.USE (877.947.3873).
- Use the ENERGY STAR special offer-rebate finder to check for sales tax exemptions or credits, or rebates on qualified products.
STEP 3
Confirm the installation by calling Yankee Gas at 1.800.989.0900 to make sure you are assigned the proper rate for gas heating. For peace of mind, enroll in the Advantage Protection Service Plan.
