Investing In Our Communities
Yankee Gas is dedicated to the vitality of the communities we serve. We periodically conduct reviews of our corporate giving strategy to ensure that our investments are making a positive difference.
Yankee Gas provides Community Investment grants to organizations located in our service areas that are undertaking projects in:
- economic and community development
- environmental leadership and stewardship
- education and workforce development
Our parent company, Northeast Utilities, supports larger, regional projects through the Northeast Utilities Foundation.
As a company with operations throughout Connecticut, we think it is also important to support health and human service, and arts and culture organizations. We do this through our United Way corporate contributions and employee giving programs, as well as our partnership with the Greater Hartford Arts Council.
Finally, we also support our employees as they donate their time and talents to a wide variety of organizations, from volunteer fire departments and local PTAs to Chambers of Commerce and more. Yankee Gas provides this support through the Dollars for Doers Program.
Dollars for Doers is a community service involvement program that encourages Northeast Utilities employees to volunteer their time to a nonprofit organization of their choice and have that organization receive a grant on their behalf.
