† Annual Inspection Option

You can add an annual inspection to a plan that covers a furnace or boiler.  During the inspection, Yankee Gas will:

  • Inspect your central heating equipment’s condition
  • Inspect your filter and replace it, if the customer has one on hand (Yankee Gas does not provide filters)
  • Perform a complete safety check, including a carbon monoxide test
  • Recommend steps to ensure your equipment is operating safely and efficiently

Inspections are performed April 1 – September 30 only, during normal business hours.
It is the customer’s responsibility to call and schedule the inspection.
Schedule the inspection soon after April 1 to ensure an appointment.

Renewing your Advantage Protection Service Plan is easy

You’ve enjoyed the peace of mind and security that comes with having the Advantage Protection Service Plan. You may even be one of the hundreds of Yankee gas customers that have avoided costly repair bills due to the coverage that your plan provides.

You will be notified by mail 45 days before your contract is due to expire. You can choose to renew your coverage, change your coverage, or cancel it.

It’s simple to renew your plan

If you choose to renew your coverage, simply send in your payment when you receive the renewal invoice and your coverage will remain in effect.

The Advantage Protection Service Planis an optional program and it is the customer’s decision to participate in the plan. The information on Yankeegas.com will help you decide if the plan is right for you.  Please be aware that the only way to ensure around-the-clock repair service from Yankee Gas is to purchase our service plan.

No, your equipment has to be in good working condition when you initiate your coverage. The plan covers future problems.

Coverage starts on the 5th business day after we receive your payment.

You will be notified by mail 45 days before your contract is due to expire. You can choose to renew your coverage, change your coverage, or cancel it. If you choose to renew your coverage, you do not need to notify us - simply send in your payment when you receive the renewal invoice and your coverage will remain in effect. If you choose to cancel your plan, please call 800-266-9900 when you receive your renewal notice. If you wish to change your coverage, call 800-266-9900 two weeks before your contract is due to expire/renew.

Each piece of equipment needs its own service contract in order to be covered. If you have two furnaces, you will need separate coverage on each, unless you choose to cover only one. In this situation, let us know that you have multiple pieces of equipment and give us the location of the covered piece of equipment.

Your service contract is non-transferable. However, contracts canceled within 60 days of the start date can be refunded in full, as long as no repair service has taken place. We cannot pro-rate the replacement contract.

No. Since the landlord owns the equipment, the landlord must grant us permission to service it.  We need a notarized letter from your landlord giving you, the tenant, permission to contract with us for service. The letter must state that Yankee Gas has permission to work on the equipment.  This correspondence will be added to your account information for reference purposes. Call 800-266-9900.

You will receive a brief, automated phone survey on the next business day following completion of your appointment.  The survey takes just a few minutes of your time and the information provided tells us how we are doing.

It is up to the home owner to decide how often their heating equipment will be checked and by whom. Factors to consider include:

  • Some manufacturers require an inspection in order to keep the warranty in effect.
  • The age of your equipment.
  • Your equipment is working, but you are unsure of its overall condition.
  • The environment your furnace is running in. Is your furnace or boiler in an area that has a lot of dust or animal hair?

Please note that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends an annual inspection of all fuel-burning appliances by a qualified technician to prevent carbon monoxide leaks. Go to cpsc.gov for more information.

The length of an inspection can vary, but generally takes about 30 minutes. During the inspection, the Yankee Gas service technician will:

  • Inspect your central heating equipment’s condition
  • Inspect the filter and replace it, if the customer has one on hand (Yankee Gas does not provide filters.)
  • Perform a complete safety check, including a carbon monoxide test
 

Inspections are scheduled April 1 – September 30. Call 800-989-0900 early in the inspection season to ensure you will get a convenient appointment time.

Yankee Gas does not inspect water heaters.  You will need to contact your plumber for that service.
